Prof. Dr. Burcu Kalkan is a distinguished Professor of Civil Law and an elite international legal consultant with over 20 years of experience. As a dual qualified lawyer registered with both the Istanbul and Frankfurt Bar Associations, she provides a sophisticated bridge between Turkish, German, and International legal systems. While rooted in Civil Law, her expertise spans the entirety of Private Law, making her a versatile partner for complex cross border matters. Based in Doha as the Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Kalkan & Oztas Partners, Prof. Kalkan is a leading authority in Corporate Law and e-Compliance, specifically advising companies within the EU and German markets on digital regulations and data governance. She plays a pivotal role in the Qatar - Germany energy corridor, where she holds government level project ownership and provides high level consultancy on Energy Law. Her strategic influence is further extended as a Board Member and Legal Counsel for the Qatar German Business Council. A seasoned International Arbitrator, Prof. Kalkan possesses extensive experience in resolving high stakes global commercial disputes. She is also a visionary in Legal Tech and AI integration, leading initiatives that modernize legal practice through technology. With an academic background from Istanbul University and advanced research at the Universities of Cologne and Bonn, she seamlessly blends rigorous scholarship with elite level, future oriented legal practice.

Halil Öztaş

Halil Öztaş is a distinguished German qualified attorney (Rechtsanwalt) and certified tax advisor with deep expertise in international commercial law, tax law, and compliance. Admitted to the bar in 2005, Mr. Öztaş combines over 18 years of legal experience with specialized certification as a Specialist Lawyer for Bank and Capital Markets Law (Fachanwalt für Bank- und Kapitalmarktrecht). He is the founder of Kanzlei Öztaş in Frankfurt am Main and co-founder of Kalkan & Oztas Partners. With a client base ranging from SMEs to multinational corporations, Mr. Öztaş advises on cross-border transactions, tax structuring, corporate governance, and regulatory alignment. His unique dual qualifications allow him to provide integrated legal and fiscal strategies that ensure both legal security and economic efficiency. Beyond his corporate practice, Mr. Öztaş has a proven track record in public leadership and sports law. He served as the Mayor of the City of Heusenstamm until 2021 and currently serves as the Chairman of the Association Court of the Hessian Football Association. Mr. Öztaş studied law at the University of Frankfurt am Main, where he also served as a tutor at several academic chairs, solidifying his theoretical foundation before entering legal practice.
